We're committed to transparency: we only collect and use your data for core app functionality with your explicit permission.

What Data We Collect and Why

We collect two types of data — the stuff you give us and the stuff we get when you use the app — but only after you've granted permission.

1. Information You Give Us

You choose to share this with us during sign-up or while using the app:

• Apple ID or Google Account (used for account identification)
• Name and email address (from your Apple/Google account)
• Apps you choose to block (only to provide service)
• Optional support messages and feedback you send us

We don't collect anything you don't explicitly agree to share.

2. Information We Automatically Collect (With Your Consent)

Some data is collected to make the app work smoothly, but only with your device-level permission:

• Camera Access: Used exclusively to detect and count movement-based workouts (such as push-ups and squats) in real-time. Video is processed locally on your device and is never saved, stored, or transmitted anywhere.
• Screen Time Data: Used to monitor and block selected apps based on your time balance. We do NOT collect browsing history, app content, or any personal data from the apps you use.
• Activity & Challenge Data: Exercise reps, math challenge progress, step totals, earned coins, and earned minutes are stored to track your progress and manage app unlocking.
• Health Data (Optional): If you grant HealthKit access, we read step count data to support step-based progress and rewards. We do not write or modify Health data.
• Usage Analytics: Basic app usage patterns (like feature usage) to improve the app experience. This data is anonymized and never sold.
• Purchase & Subscription Data: Subscription status and entitlement events are processed to unlock premium features and prevent fraud.
• Notification Tokens: To send you reminders and important service updates (if you enable notifications).

Screen Time & Family Controls

EarnScreen uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls) to help you block distracting apps. Here's what you need to know:

• You control what apps are blocked. We only monitor apps you explicitly select.
• No data leaves your device. App usage monitoring happens locally on your iPhone. We don't see what you do in blocked apps or collect any content from them.
• Only time tracking. We track how many minutes you've used your selected apps to enforce your time limits. That's it.
• You can stop anytime. You can disable blocking, change selected apps, or delete your account at any time from Settings.

How We Use Your Information

We only use your data to make the app work and improve it — not to sell ads or track you unnecessarily:

• To Make the App Work: Workout and challenge tracking, app blocking, time balance tracking, coin rewards, and reminders.
• To Improve Features: Analytics help us understand what works and what doesn't (all anonymized).
• To Manage Access: Verify subscription status and apply free/premium limits.
• For Safety & Security: Verifying accounts and preventing misuse.
• To Communicate With You: Service messages, support replies, and important updates (never spam).

We never use your data for advertising purposes or sell it to third parties.

Data Sharing & Storage

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share limited data only in the following scenarios:

• With service providers who help us run the app (e.g., Firebase for cloud storage and authentication, RevenueCat/App Store for subscriptions, and analytics/crash reporting providers). These partners follow strict data privacy rules.
• If legally required, for example by a court order or valid law enforcement request.
• With your permission, for specific features you choose to enable.

All data is stored securely in encrypted form on trusted cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud).

Your Choices & Controls

You're in control at all times. Here's what you can do:

• Adjust or revoke camera and Screen Time permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
• Adjust or revoke HealthKit permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
• Change which apps you want to block.
• Edit or delete your profile information.
• Disable exercise reminders and notifications.
• Delete your account and associated data from Settings.

Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / Others)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access or correct your personal data.
• Request deletion or data portability.
• Object to processing or withdraw consent.
• Lodge complaints with your local privacy authority.

We honor these rights. Just contact us to get started.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. When you delete your account, we delete all associated personal data within 30 days, except where we're required by law to retain certain information.

Children's Privacy

EarnScreen is not intended for children under the age of 13, or under the minimum age in your jurisdiction. If we discover that we've collected personal data from a child without parental consent, we will delete it immediately.

Security

We take security seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Effective Date" at the top of the page. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know in the app or via email.
